Cellular Biology is a kilnformed glass art object inspired by the Italian Memphis Design Style movement of Milan in the 1980s. Pieces of sheet glass are cut apart and reassembled in an electric kiln. The pieces are fired to approximately 1500 degrees to fully fuse them. The fused glass object is then coldworked, sandblasted, and slumped to achieve a soft matte finish.
